i'm so addicted to rpg maker mz!! i finally bit the bullet and decided to start working on an idea i've had for my oc (now ocs, plural) for two years at this point. so far i've watched basic tutorials to get started on it, and have the most central maps blueprinted. now i gotta figure out how to parallax map them with my own art and write more events and dialogue. i'm thinking of chopping old photos and collaging them for at least textures... or use them as backgrounds for cutscenes. this project isn't going to be a "game" per se, (haha perse, takalisto jopa) but an interactive way to introduce my ocs. really excited to start drawing very basic walking sprites, and more than that, portraits!!
sibling bickering! they feel so real now!! even with placeholder portraits lol
i've been gathering random photos for a few years to use in something like this, and it's really fun to see them become meaningful again in this way. next up is recording ambient sounds to have something playing in the background, got one real nice water recording on my phone for now. maybe i should make a bike trip to the beach again... someone in a tutorial shared a browser based resource for composing called "beepbox", and i made the most pre-school, toddler's-first-exposure-to-composing melody ever. an equivalent would be letting a pet cat step in paint and then walk over a piece of paper. i literally can't stop laughing at it if i end up thinking about the song (not sure if you can even call it that, i literally just clicked around and it ended up like how it did). i do want to try making something for the title, and a little video loop loosely playing to its beat.
there's also a pile of drawings i did on paper last year that i gotta dig up and post online... i did an inktober-ish challenge for half a month, the enstars doodles i already have in a blog post and something else i can't recall. i'll be updating my rpg maker project here more since it's currently in the forefront of my interests, and i'm trying to do as much as i can until the free trial runs out. god i wish i bought it on steam while it was still on sale... there's still a whole world of plug-ins and stuff to dive deep into! agh i'm just super glad how intuitive it is to use, it's just pure fun to build ideas with. well then, catch you next time with more rpg adventures ( ̄ω ̄)
