last weekend was a blast, the painting class was even more fun than i thought! it was a tightly knit group of people i already knew, including my now two irl friends so i'm super happy and excited to go again next week! it was through a workshop i did three years ago that i got into this one. the workshop is located at quite a bicycle ride away from where i live so it's even a good workout to get there and back. they also still have a deal to receive food from stores that's about to get thrown away, so i got a boon of bananas, rye bread, mashed turnip and plant-based meat with me, a freaking treasure trove!! i even printed some funny little business cards that i got to share one of last week. i tell ya it's a workshop of its own to cut those things into shape from photo paper... the start of the year has been incredibly good for me already, i can't help but feel content.

on the actual painting side of things, watercolors with wet on wet technique has proven quite challenging. i tend to keep wanting to build up on attempts with either more paint and/or with pens and pencils. that's how i usually save my works from failure, by just building on them more and more until at some point the sheer volume of whatever it now consists of is enough to salvage it (most of the time). i forgot all my sketches back there, so i can't show them today, but will snap photos once i get my hands on them. outside of that i think i'll still draw a bit more dunmeshi, izutsumi needs her own piece too, especially since i rewatched studio trigger's little witch academia documentaries and felt incredibly inspired by them. poor things were very visiby sleep deprived though.

the perfect walking weathers are also persisting, even though the wind's strong enough to be heard through the windowpanes. i feel like i could walk on forever if i didn't get hungry so fast. the moment when you're just about to turn home with hunger really taking over and making you slightly dizzy is weirdly pleasant because it makes you feel like you're walking on clouds, unless it goes on even a minute too long and then you just want to topple over. makes dinner taste extra tasty though. my poor bike needs an outing to the repair shop too, the back tire has a hole and i need my fix of bike adventures.

finally the start of a new irredeemably messy journal! it's so delightful being so tiny and soft covered, i love it
